CHILDRENS MINISTRY
We believe children are capable of learning to live and worship God from an early age. Our programs reflect that belief as we seek to instruct children in God’s Word and how it applies to daily living. We prayerfully seek the Lord about teaching children the applicable Word of God at their age level and given skill set. We believe Christian parents are responsible for the training and instruction of their children in God’s Word and our children’s curriculum is meant to supplement what is being taught at home. Christian Education in the home is primary for a child’s success in life.

Word Champions is a scripture memorization program designed to put the Word of God in the child’s mind and heart. Through a series of scripture memorizations recited to their class teachers, children learn many verses and receive various awards along the way. When they reach particular milestones in memorization, children are rewarded with the privilege to choose a picnic, event, or dinner with a family within the congregation. We like to reward not only with material prizes but see great advantage in rewarding children with opportunities for Godly relationships with other adults within our church family.

NURSERY
Ages 0-2
Nursery is available both Sunday services and on Wednesday. Young ones receive an especially designed Bible lesson that is interactive, instructional and engaging for their age. Even newborns experience Bible songs and the message of Jesus’ love.

SHINING LIGHTS
3-7 YEARS OLD
SHINING LIGHTS
Shining Lights classes are held each Sunday service and on Wednesdays. Teachers present Bible stories, memory verses, and lessons through hands-on crafts, activities, stories, and games.
Ages 3-5
SUPER CHURCH
6-12 years old
Super Church meets on Sunday mornings after congregational worship. Super Church engages children in scripture memory verses, object lessons, life stories, songs, and puppets.

F.B.I. meets on Wednesday nights during the adult service. This class focuses on learning the books of the Bible, locating scriptures in the Bible along with practical life application and Christian living.

We have found that youths interacting with adults provides a favorable environment and outcome both spiritually and recreationally. Youth at VWC worship in services with the adults and benefit from multi-generational interaction. The advantage to this approach is that negative peer pressure is weakened and relationships between teens and adults (other than their parents) are strengthened providing additional support during the tumultuous teen years.

Family social gatherings are foundational for creating an atmosphere of security for our youth. We do this by encouraging games, conversation, and various interactions between teens and people of all ages at our monthly church fellowships.
