OUR COMMUNITY

I'm a paragraph. Click here to add your own text and edit me. I’m a great place for you to tell a story and let your users know a little more about you.

It is not sufficient to say you believe something just because you inherited it. There is no doubt everyone holds a worldview and everybody believes in something. We believe the Bible comprises of truth about God, our relationship with Him and His purposes in the world. The present cultural currents mean that every individual today is confronted with a staggering number of ideologies, lifestyles, and faith options, all competing for their attention. Whereas, at Vineyard Workers Church, we want the name of Jesus Christ to be known.

Vineyard Workers Church is a local body of believers and not a denomination. We present love, joy, praise, worship, and the teaching of the Word of God. Our purpose is to glorify God and to share the love and life of Jesus Christ with our community.

WE BELIEVE

In worship

We believe worship is a sincere expression of adoration to God. We see in the Bible that true worship is expressed in a number of ways, including singing, shouting clapping, dancing, lifting hands, and bowing down.

“Praise ye the Lord. Sing unto the Lord a new song, and His praise in the congregation of the saints.”  (Psalm 149:1)

“O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.”  (Psalm 47:1)

“Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the Lord.”  (Psalm 134:2)

“Let them praise His name in the dance; let them sing praises unto Him with the timbrel and harp.”  (Psalm 149:3)

“Come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.”  (Psalm 95:6)

In prophecy

Often during our gatherings, the Holy Spirit will speak a specific word through an individual for the edification, exhortation, and comfort of the people. (I Corinthians 14:3) The word is usually in English, but it may come initially in another tongue and be followed by an interpretation.

“And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy…”

(Joel 2:28)

In prayer

By the blood of Jesus we have access into the throne room of God, where after worship and thanksgiving, we can make our requests known to Him. (Hebrews 4:16) When we pray in faith according to His word, we know He hears and answers us. God desires to talk to us during prayer and give us direction. We believe in praying in English and in tongues, praying individually and corporately, and praying for healing and for other needs.

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”  (Philippians 4:6)

“God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”  (Philippians 4:19)

“And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he committed sins, they shall be forgiven.”  (James 5:15)

“And this is the confidence which we have before Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.”  (I John 5:14-15)

“I shall pray with the spirit and I shall pray with the mind also.”  (I Corinthians 14:15)

“Pray at all times.”  (Ephesians 6:18)

In communion

We generally celebrate the Lord’s Supper once a week, usually at the Sunday evening service.

“And they were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”  (Acts 2:42)

“Jesus was recognized by them in the breaking of the bread.”  (Luke 24:35)

“For as often as you eat this bread, and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.”  (I Corinthians 11:26)

In family

We believe in the family unit and therefore have developed ministry programs for all age groups. We recognize the importance to train children in the principles of God, and our programs are fun and educational.  For each service: Nursery (Ages 0-2), and “Shining Lights” (3-5).  Sunday Morning's children ages 6-12 are invited to join us for “Super Church”.  On Wednesday nights Fantastic Bible Investigators (FBI) meet for children ages 6-12.  We believe our children, above the age of thirteen, benefit greatly from being in service with the adults and therefore, they remain in service.

In our statement of faith

We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God.

We believe in One God, ever-existent in three persons: The Father, The Son, The Holy Spirit.

We believe that Man is created in the image of God, but through the transgression of Adam, all human flesh is born into a sinful nature.

We believe that Jesus, God’s Son, is the eternal sacrifice and provision for Man’s redemption and that there is salvation by no other name.

We believe that when a person acknowledges their sin, repents with a sincere heart, and believes in Jesus as Lord and Savior, they are born again. This new birth is accompanied by the power to live a godly life. It allows for an unhindered fellowship, communication, and intimacy with God.

We believe that Jesus Christ died, was buried, was resurrected from the grave, and ascended to heaven where he is seated at the right hand of the Father as our High Priest, forever making intercession on our behalf.

We believe in the return of our Lord Jesus Christ, and that the believers will rule and reign with Him forever.

We believe that God is good, the author of life, the giver or every good thing; it is the devil who comes to kill, steal, and destroy, but Jesus came to bring abundant life. This abundant life includes divine health, prosperity, joy, peace, and deliverance from any sort of hindrance that impedes living each day in victory.

We believe in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit as a gift from God available to all believers. Evidence of this gift is speaking in other tongues as the Holy Spirit gives utterance, coupled with an increased awareness of the work of the Holy Spirit and His role in our living a godly and victorious life.

We believe we were created by God for the praise of His glory.

BELIEFS

Some Why's

Why do we stand when we sing?

-“And the Levites…of the children of the Korhites stood up to praise the Lord God of Israel with a loud voice on high.”

(II Chronicles 20:19)

Why do we clap our hands?

“O clap your hands all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.”

(Psalm 47:1)

Why do we lift our hands?

“Thus I will bless Thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in Thy name.”

(Psalm 63:4)

“Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and bless the Lord.”

(Psalm 134:2)

“I will therefore that men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.”

(I Timothy 2:8)

Why do we have audible praise unto God?

“Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me bless His holy name.”

(Psalm 103:1)

“I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.”

(Psalm 34:1)

“And when they heard this, they lifted their voices to God…”

(Acts 4:24)

What is prophecy?

“…the Lord God hath spoken, who can but prophesy?”

(Amos 3:8)

“But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.”

(I Corinthians 14:3)

“Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.”

(I Corinthians 14:1)

“But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal…To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy.”

(I Corinthians 12:7 & 10)

“For ye may all prophecy one by one, that all may learn and all may be comforted.”

(I Corinthians 14:31)

“Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.”

(I Corinthians 14:29)

Why do we have speaking with tongues and interpretation of those tongues?

“Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.”

(I Corinthians 14:39)

“But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal…To another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues.”

(I Corinthians 12:7 & 10)

“I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.”

(I Corinthians 14:5)

“If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course, and let one interpret.”

(I Corinthians 14:27)

Why are musical instruments a part of the worship service?

“Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet; Praise Him with the psaltry and harp. Praise Him with the timbrel and dance. Praise Him with stringed instruments and organs. Praise Him upon the loud cymbals.”

(Psalm 150:3-5)

“ And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps.”

(Revelation 14:2)

Why does the whole church pray at once for specific needs?

“And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, Thou art God, which hast made heaven and earth…”

(Acts 4:24)

Why do we anoint with oil and pray for the sick?

“Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him.”

(James 5:14, 15)

Why do we sing in tongues and in English?

“For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding in unfruitful. What is it then? I will pray with the spirit and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing in the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.”

(I Corinthians 14:14-15)

Why do we have this type of worship?

“But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in Spirit and in Truth for the Father seeketh such to worship Him. God is spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in Truth.”

(John 4:23-24)

“For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the Spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus and have no confidence in the flesh.”

(Philippians 3:3)

Why do we sing choruses as well as hymns?

“And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.”

(Ephesians 5:18-19)

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”

(Colossians 3:16)
